Implants

Many lose their teeth due to decay, gum disease, trauma or infection. Earlier these could be replaced by dentures and then later came fixed prosthesis i.e. bridges. But now we have IMPLANTS.

Implants can be imagined as a replacement of the tooth root. This titanium rod(implant) is a strong foundation for the removable or fixed tooth replacement that is placed over it.

Implants have a number of advantages:

~ Improved appearance. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent

~ Improved speech. With poor-fitting dentures, there is always the fear of the denture slipping off causing embarrassment and speech issues. An implant being fused to the bone and the tooth being permanently attached such problems do not arise.

~ Improved comfort. Since they fuse well with the bone, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures.

~ Easier eating. Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult. Implants feel almost like the tooth allowing one to eat almost everything.

~ Dental implants don’t require grinding of adjacent teeth to support a bridge. Thus the existing teeth are left unaltered.

~ Durability. Implants are very durable and if good oral hygiene is maintained, implants can last a lifetime.

With the market being flooded with options, implants have become quite economical too.
