Root Canal Treatment

When the decay is small the decay can be removed and the area can be filled with a filling material. But if the decay has gone in deeper then it cannot be filled as it is very close to the nerve or pulp of the tooth. This tooth now requires a root canal.

In a root canal, under anaesthesia, the pulp or living part of the tooth is removed and that area is cleaned with disinfectants. Subsequently it is filled with materials that will stay inside the tooth.

You may need a root canal if:

~ Tooth is getting more sensitive to hot or cold items even after the item has been removed.

~ Trauma causing the tooth to fracture extensively or discolour.

~ Severe pain while chewing.

~ Pimples on the gums.
