Teeth whitening
White teeth like the ones shown in commercials are a dream of many. While some are born with sparkling pearlies many are not so lucky.
Teeth get discoloured due to many reasons:
~ Aging
~ Stains due to medications, beverages or smoking
~ Decay or faulty restorations. Even after a root canal procedure.
~ Increased exposure to fluoridated water.
Teeth whitening can be done at home or in –office. Both require a bleaching agent that is placed directly on the teeth (in-office) and in a mould (at home).
Teeth whitening done by your dentist can get teeth brighter faster. The bleaching solution is usually much stronger than at-home kits. Also, heat, light, or a combination of the two may be used to speed and intensify the whitening process.
Tooth-whitening works best for people with yellow teeth
Tooth bleaching can make teeth temporarily sensitive — or be uncomfortable for people who already have sensitive teeth. When used incorrectly, home kits can also lead to burned — even temporarily bleached — gums. So it is better that it is done under supervision.
